Salt Lake City-Ogden, UT (1888PressRelease)
March 24, 2008 - In February 2007, Disney announced plans for a 2008 feature film sequel with a Graduation theme dubbed "High School Musical 3: Senior Year." Utah will again be the setting for HSM3. Shooting is scheduled to begin from April 21, 2008, and is expected to be complete by June 13, 2008.
The original High School Musical 1 and 2 director Kenny Ortega is also on board. "It has brought me a kind of recognition I've never had," said the 57-year-old Ortega. "In the past, it was a certain audience - older, loved dance - that knew me. This is bigger and more awesome than I ever thought for myself." As with its cast, "HSM" has made Ortega a pop star of sorts with fans of the Disney film. And this for someone who has worked with the likes of Madonna, Cher and Elton John; has directed such shows as "The Gilmore Girls," "Ally McBeal" and "Chicago Hope," and has worked on many films.
Disney Channel has already announced the two new cast members, Matt Prokop will play Jimmie "The Rocket" Soto, and Jemma McKenzie Brown will play Tiara. Matt Prokop is notable for playing a minor character in the Disney Channel television series, Hannah Montana. And this will be Jemma’s second acting gig, following six appearances in the British series The Amazing Mrs. Pritchard in 2006. She’s 13 years old and beat out 600 girls from three countries, for the role of "Tiara" in High School Musical 3: Senior Year.
Could the Jonas Brothers be also starring in HSM 3?
One can only speculate as to what this announcement will be, but it is rare that Disney issues an advance media alert regarding this type of press release. So hopefully it will truly be something worth waiting for!
