September 22, 2006 - Ergowrap Endorsed by Leading Pain Management Group for Houston Inventor’s New Ergonomic CTS Symptom Relief Product
Houston, Texas (September 21, 2006) – Terrance Derr, an engineer working in Houston, Texas has received a strong endorsement for one of his recent medical-related inventions, called “ergowrap”. “ergowrap”, a product worn around the wrist and positions computer keyboard users hands and arms properly, relieving symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS), for those whose work requires long-term keyboard use.
Karen Dickerson, MD, of River Oaks Pain Management became aware of “ergowrap” through one of their patients. Following research completion with her practice colleague, Dr. Robert Reyna, who provided the product for testing and evaluation, to their assistants, stated “Our staff now use this product every day. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is a debilitating injury, with symptoms ranging from numbness and tingling to aching and excruciating pain. A study by the National Institutes of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and California Occupational Health Program (COHP) have reported, in landmark studies, that repetitive motion injuries, such as CTS, are on the rise. Employers are experiencing more in loss-time injury costs from CTS patients, than costs associated with back injuries.
Due to the agonizing debilitation of CTS, those who suffer with the symptoms of this injury may also lose their revenue generation activities. Many times CTS sufferers must undergo extensive surgery, which may not cure the problem. Ergonomic and human resources experts agree, more must be done to reduce the incidents and loss due to symptoms of CTS.
Inventor, Terrance Derr, a long-time sufferer of CTS, who eventually had extensive surgical procedures to relieve the pain, believed that there must be a way to not only help people who have the injury, but to prevent the injury, as well. Following two years of extensive research, he created “ergowrap”.
