Entry now open for 23rd Phuket King's Cup Regatta

The 2009 Phuket King's Cup Regatta are open for entries. Participants can enter online using the entry form and secure payment gateway on the Regatta's official website.

(1888PressRelease) August 06, 2009 - Entries for the 2009 Phuket King's Cup Regatta are now being accepted online at http://www.kingscup.com/BoatRegister.cfm.

The 23rd Phuket King's Cup Regatta will take place 28 November – 5 December 2009, off Kata Beach, Phuket, Thailand, and already entries are coming in. The online entry system allows skippers to complete entry and payment online with a secured facility, and thus minimise the time needed to register at the opening weekend (28th and 29th November).

“Since the launch of the online entry facility, we have already had a number of boats register their intent. Matt Allen's Ichi Ban, winner of IRC 1 in 2008, have entered and are ready to defend their title,” said Simon James, Race Director.

Entered boats of note to date include Rip Jaw, a new Beneteau 42s7 from Singapore and a fleet of ten charter boats from Thailand's leading charter operator Sunsail.

Classes for the 2009 Regatta include, Racing; Premier; Sport Boats; IRC; Modern Classic; Bareboat Charter; Multihull; Firefly 850 Sports; Beach Catamarans; Cruising Class; and One-Design Class Racing. Full details and classifications can be found on the NOR online at http://www.kingscup.com/index.cfm?ntid=1018.

Following a windy and successful Phuket Raceweek, the number of entries for the Phuket King's Cup Regatta is expected to be high. A number of regular entrants from Hong Kong say they are expecting a record Racing Class fleet with seven yachts over 50ft already verbally committed to taking part in the 2009 Phuket King's Cup Regatta.

In addition, there has been interest in One-Design Class Racing from the Thailand built RS Elites and a Phuket-based fleet of Tasars, plus with the re-introduction of beach catamarans and junior Optimist sailing for the first time, the Phuket King's Cup Regatta could see everything from 7-foot to 100-foot plus vessels participating this year.

Sponsors of the 2009 regatta include Raimon Land Plc, Kata Group, Thai Beverage Plc, Mom Tri's Boathouse, Sunsail, Mont Clair and Phuket Magazine. Media partners include Blue Wave 90.5FM, Ensign Media, Multihull World, The Nation, Phuket Gazette, Sail-World.com, Superyacht Asia magazine and Yacht Style.

The 23rd Phuket King's Cup Regatta will take place 28 November - 5 December, 2009, off Kata Beach, Phuket, Thailand. Under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King, the Regatta is organised by the Phuket King's Cup Regatta Organising Committee under the auspices of the Royal Varuna Yacht Club, in conjunction with the Yacht Racing Association of Thailand, the Royal Thai Navy and the Province of Phuket.
