E-Summit is a unique initiative by The Entrepreneurship Cell, IIT Bombay, to motivate and educate people about entrepreneurship and serve as a meeting ground for Corporate and young budding entrepreneurs from distinguished institutions across the country.

It includes lectures by high profile speakers, panel discussions, focused workshops, case study analysis and challenging competitions among other attractions.

Workshops:
The Workshops are designed to acquaint the participants with the numerous issues in business planning when they meet ground realities.. These workshops are conceptualized for the aspirants who are looking forward to convert their idea into enterprise in near future.
The following workshops will be organized:

1) The Initial years of an Entrepreneur
Ajit Balkrishnan, Founder and CEO, Rediff.com

It will provide an insight into drive needed to overcome the initial problems faced by the entrepreneur at product /concept development stage, understanding the market, formation of team, setting the vision etc. and how an entrepreneur must perceive these problems to overcome setbacks.

2) Market research for Startups in IT
Neeraj Roy, Managing Director & CEO, Hungama Mobile

The workshop will address the requirement of market surveys in deciding the returns and positioning of the company to the specific segment of the market

3) Market research for Startups in Manufacturing
Girish Kuma, Chairman Wilcom Technologies

It will focus on the sources or techniques for market analysis and interpreting it correctly for devising market strategy for start up.

4) Strategy planning for Startups in IT
Anant Krishnan,Vice President and CTO, TCS

This will provide an overview of the need, type and correct time of business alliances or model to adapt to scale up the company.


5) Strategy planning for Startups in Manufacturing
Sumrami Ramachandrappa, Founder, Richcore

The workshop will deal with the aspects involving strategy formulation and issues involved in its implementation.

6) Strategy planning for Startups in Services
Ashok Wadhwa, Partner & CEO, Ambit corporate finance

The three parallel workshops will focus on key industrial sectors of manufacturing, IT and services independently .It will throw light on operational issues that one encounter in these sector.

7) Marketing Strategy for Startups
Patrick Turner, INSEAD Professor, Department of Entrepreneurship

The workshop will provide insight into the strategy for positioning the company into correct market segment, selecting or forming appropriate distribution channels and projecting the company and its product appropriately. It will also discuss

It will explore the importance of cash flow management, and looking at ways to effectively calculate profit margin, analyzing break even point and controlling credit.

Networking platform provides a means of making business acquaintances with people having same aspirations. Networking is an ideal platform for informal sharing of experience and knowledge amongst each other.

Global Entrepreneurship Network
The Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) is an online platform which aims to provide an integrated support system to budding entrepreneurs across the country. Initiated by E-Cell, IIT Bombay, the network currently comprises of entrepreneurship promoting organizations of several premier institutions in India. The network envisages involving similar student and professional organizations from across the world.

GEN will be launched at E-Summit 2006.
GEN would be an online platform with the following features:
• Team builder
o This section shall provide facilities to search for potential core team members with the required area of expertise and/or in the desired industry sector as well as to team up with an individual or team already working on a business idea.
• Online Mentoring
o The mentoring panel consisting of successful entrepreneurs, eminent corporate and distinguished faculty members from across the world shall be approachable to seek guidance on different aspects of business development.
• Funding and Incubation
o A wide network of angel investors, VC firms, funding agencies and business incubators shall provide funding and incubation opportunities to budding entrepreneurs with B-plans that qualify through the initial screening conducted by GEN through a panel of experts.
• Resources
o This section shall contain a structured compilation of material on different aspects of enterprise building.
• General discussion & Latest News
o This section shall enable discussion amongst the members on different topics related to entrepreneurship and post articles and views on new ventures and potential business ideas.
• Upcoming Events
o This section shall contain detailed information on upcoming seminars, workshops, lectures, etc. focusing on entrepreneurship

Panel Discussion
The big question: Funding for your start-up
How much does a person need to invest at start up stage? What are the other sources available? What is the right time to scale up the company through investment? The central question of all business plans: The funding to kick off the start up…

The discussion shall revolve around the sources of funds at product/concept development stage and the options available at the later stage of business. It will deal with the trade-offs associated with each option and factors to be taken care of while deciding the source. This will also point down the private institution and government policies for the promotion of entrepreneurship.
