  • Bob Jellen, President of Entertainment Insurance Consultants, Inc. is based in Beverly Hills, California and provides specialized insurance services to the Entertainment Industry.

    For many years, Bob has played a leading role in Hollywood providing innovative insurance solutions for major studios, independent filmmakers, Fortune 500 advertisers and advertising agencies.

    He started his entertainment insurance career in 1967 joining Albert G. Ruben & Company in Beverly Hills, CA.

    In 1969 Bob opened Albert G. Ruben's New York office and created the first DICE package policy designed specifically for television commercial production companies. Over the next nine years Bob provided insurance for many of New York's TV commercial producers and directors as well as the leading concert promoters and touring musical groups in the U.S.

    In 1978 he moved back to California and helped build Albert G. Ruben & Company into the #1 entertainment insurance brokerage firm in the world. He was the first insurance broker to receive screen credit for providing production insurance on a film.

    In 1993 Bob literally changed the way advertisers and advertising agencies purchased insurance for their commercials with his Television Commercial Wrap-Up Insurance Program. In addition to providing broader coverage and higher limits, he was able to reduce their insurance costs significantly. Over the years he has developed insurance programs for Altria, Anheuser-Busch, Coca-Cola, General Motors, Honda, Kellogg, Kraft, Leo Burnett Advertising, Mazda, McDonald's, Marlboro, Miller Beer, Nestle, Nike, Philip Morris, Reebok, Toyota and has insured over 20,000 television commercials and print ads.

    In 2006 Bob was selected by Risk Insurance Magazine as one of the Top 100 Power Insurance Brokers in the United States and one of the top 5 insurance brokers in the the U.S. specializing in Entertainment Insurance.

    In 2007 Bob founded Entertainment Insurance Consultants, Inc. and continues to provide creative insurance solutions for many of his entertainment clients. He currently provides Motion Picture Production and Media Liability Insurance programs for Viacom, Paramount Pictures, DreamWorks as well as Spyglass Entertainment.

    Bob also developed Contract Indemnity Insurance covering the contracts that actors, producers, directors and screenwriters sign with the studios and protects those individuals in the event of their death or disability or the death or disability of anyone working on their film/television production or in the event of a loss is triggered by a force majeure event.

    Bob has recently created Film Tax Incentive Insurance so that filmmakers can protect their budget and insure the tax incentive they expect to earn on their production. He recently provided coverage for "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" which filmed in Louisiana and stars Brad Pitt as well as "Ashecliffe" which was shot in Massachusetts and stars Leonardo DiCaprio.

    Bob is recognized by his peers and clients as one of the most creative individuals in the entertainment insurance industry for always thinking "outside the box" and consistently coming up with innovative insurance solutions for his clients.
