August 17, 2007 - “As my friends and I began to have children our own children, I soon realized that a lot of us experienced some post-partum issues after their birth. However, many of us were uncomfortable discussing these issues with our physicians or midwives and simply hoped the issues would go away on their own. Well, I took it a step further by visiting a lot of post-partum web forums for more information. I soon realized that the issue of uterine prolapse was raised over and over, but that there wasn’t a lot of good quality information about the condition available. I then created www.uterine-prolapse.net to bridge the gap for women everywhere” says site owner Kristi Patrice Carter.
Kristi’s new website offers information about uterine prolapse in an informative, easy-to-understand and compassionate way. “When you have children, you need to find information fast. After all, you’ve got a tiny person depending on you and your time is limited. There’s no point in creating a site filled with medical mumbo-jumbo … instead women need reliable information quickly so that they can get back to caring for their children. So, my site offers straightforward articles about uterine prolapse that are written by experts who want to help you understand and treat your condition.”
At www.uterine-prolapse.net, you’ll find an extensive range of articles, helping you to recognize the signs and symptoms of uterine prolapse, as well as providing an explanation of how and why the condition occurs. Articles included on the newly-launched website also detail the treatments that are available to women suffering from uterine prolapse. “It’s important to me that women understand exactly what options they have available to them,” says Carter. “Until recently, hysterectomy was the most common treatment for uterine prolapse. Unless a woman has finished having children, a hysterectomy is often not the best option, although it may be surgically easier to perform. I am committed to informing women so that they can go to their doctor and say, ‘Well, I’d prefer not to lose my uterus and would like you to consider re-suspending it.’”
Kristi P. Carter understands that women who have a young family or who have recently given birth need support and she hopes that her new site can extend a caring arm to its visitors. “Birth is a wonderful and blessed event,” says Kristi, “but many people forget that it’s just the start of the journey. I wanted to create a site that provides women with support after the birth of their children. There is the temptation for women to ignore signs and symptoms of conditions such as uterine prolapse. I want women to know that they need to care for themselves as well as their families.”
