April 17, 2008 - The result is the NICU Identification Kit. Each kit consists of 100 sheets of blank wristband sheets, a supply of foam backing materials and instructions for use.
The wristband sheet has a mother’s band, and three different size infant bands. The bands are manufactured using a new soft material for the comfort of the infant. The use of these sheets is straight forward, a full sheet is printed on a laser printer, the appropriate band size is selected and peeled from the sheet, the foam may be added to the back if desired and applied to the wrist or ankle of the infant. The foam used, is the same as foam used for wound care so it is gentle on the skin. The foam will also accommodate some weight gain or loss and there are the larger bands which can be used when needed.
The patent pending closure method was designed to be used in the maternity, the bands can be prepared in advance, the band is then slipped over the limb, adjusted for size and closed.
Endur ID’s wristbands can be easily adapted into most current patient identification systems without major investment. All of Endur ID’s products will accommodate bar codes, photographs and a host of patient centric information. The only requirement is the ability to format patient information and print to a desktop laser printer. The wristband’s material and construction is tough and able to withstand the rigors of a hospital environment, including showers, alcohol wipes, and other agents directly from the printer without further protection.
