February 23, 2007 - Blown away by Bruce Brown’s 1966 cult surfing documentary 'The Endless Summer', founders of EndlessFestival.com wanted to revive some of the free spirited approach to adventure and achievement so typical of the sixties.
“There was a collaborative and communal idea about making good things happen back then”, adds one EF founder.
It is very early days but the refreshingly simple website is a positive step towards inspiring hippy-like collaboration in the pursuit of mass and continuous revelling through music and art. Anyone with an event can add it to the string of parties, gigs, and shows to help create the never ending festival which has already seen submissions from Austria, Japan and Mexico.
As you might expect, it is mainly musicians that have jumped this bandwagon before anyone else but thankfully it is not your usual myspace deluge of samey indie shite. We found some quite impressive purveyors garage rock and folk to electronica among early adopters. Even if it is not practical to get to most of these far flung shindigs it may be worth checking out the far flung talent.
You can join the festivities at www.endlessfestival.com
