EmploymentCrossing Adds 47,000+ Jobs in One Week in Pennsylvania; State Unemployment Rate Virtually Unchanged

EmploymentCrossing has recently set a record of sorts, posting 47,871 jobs in its job database in one week in Pennsylvania, even as the state did not budge from its jobless rate from the prior month. The job site, which is also one of the leading job boards in the world, boasts of an incredible job database consisting of more than 2 million jobs related to all fields.

Sacramento, CA (1888PressRelease) July 30, 2008 - These jobs are searched for by hundreds of researchers who look for them on 8,000+ job boards and 250,000 websites every day.

The unemployment rate in Pennsylvania is less than the national unemployment rate of 5.5%; Pennsylvania has been holding steady at 5.2% for the past two months. Industrial employment in Pennsylvania has been suffering considerably, however, dropping by 1.2% over the year, according to the 2009 Pennsylvania Manufacturers Register, a compilation of state industry reports published annually by Manufacturers' News, Inc. (MNI). Additionally, 10,684 industrial jobs were lost over the year from May 2007 to May 2008, continuing the decline the state has seen since 2001.

Service-providing industries reported the largest gains in the job market with a rise of 1,400 jobs in education and health services, and 1,200 jobs in professional and business services. The service-providing industries have helped the job market show consistent gains in the number of jobs for the last three months.

“Pennsylvania has been trying to combat the deteriorating employment situation with renewed vigor” says A. Harrison Barnes, CEO of EmploymentCrossing. “Pennsylvania’s industrial sector is suffering due to automation and outsourcing, and although they are trying hard, the jobless rates have not dipped as of now.”

Barnes adds that “EmploymentCrossing has posted a record number of jobs in Pennsylvania alone, and that is no mean feat by any comparison whatsoever. EmploymentCrossing understands the critical need of the hour, and is doubling its efforts to post as many jobs as it can, every week.”

The top job titles, according to the jobs currently available on EmploymentCrossing, are:

• Healthcare jobs
• Managerial jobs
• Information Technology jobs
• Engineering jobs
• Nursing jobs

EmploymentCrossing tries to leverage the quality of the existing job market of Pennsylvania with the help of quality efforts put in by hundreds of research analysts who scour every nook and cranny of the country for open jobs. Unlike other job boards that simply herd masses of job listings without looking back, EmploymentCrossing weeds out spam and jobs outside one’s niche, allowing job seekers to search efficiently and specifically.
