  • Syracuse, NY (1888PressRelease) April 04, 2014 - The New York State Tourism Industry Association (NYSTIA) will host the 8th annual I Love NY Empire State Tourism Conference April 28-30, 2014 at The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Syracuse, NY.

    The 3-day conference will feature presentations and professional development sessions from more than 20 travel and marketing experts from across the state.

    "This year's I Love NY Empire State Tourism Conference will bring together a group of the most knowledgeable and passionate travel experts in the country," said Michael Linehan, Co-Chair of NYSTIA. "It is important that conference attendees walk away with a better understanding of the tourism industry, as it is the 5th largest employer in our state and is a critical component of a healthy state economy."

    Keynote Speakers:
    • John Kennedy, President, John Kennedy Consulting
    As the Chief Cultural Officer and Director of Sales for two US-based companies, Kennedy's presentation will focus on building workplace culture through customer service, sales, leadership development, and teamwork.

    • Jim Byers, Travel Columnist and Consultant
    Byers spent five years in his previous position as Travel Editor for the Toronto Star. He will speak about reaching the Canadian Market.

    • Gavin Landry, Executive Director of Tourism, NYS Division of Tourism
    Landry has played a lead role in the development and implementation of the I Love NY program. His presentation will review the campaign's accomplishments and goals for the future.

    On Monday, the conference will host two niche marketing sessions, which will explore marketing to tourists for sporting events and trail programs. On Tuesday, Steve Yencich, President/CEO at Michigan Lodging and Tourism Association, will present a case study on the growth of his organization titled "Examining Pure Michigan."
