Orange County, CA (1888PressRelease)
April 22, 2008 - In an effort to promote a holistic work / life balance for its seasoned team, Earthbound Media Group (EMG) is happy to announce the newest additions to its employee benefits offerings. EMG’s ongoing commitment to offering some of the most innovative and competitive benefits around further supports its reputation as one Orange County’s most fun places to work.
Unanimously approved by EMG’s talented and diverse team and executive leadership, the new work / life benefits introduced this spring include an alternative work schedule referred to as EMG’s 9/80 schedule. Instead of the typical forty-hour workweek, the EMG team now puts in 80 work hours in 9 days with every 10th workday off. Keeping its environmental and social responsibilities at the forefront, EMG also implemented the 9/80 schedule as a progressive way to reduce the impact its team’s commutes have on EMG’s carbon footprint while giving its team a three-day weekend twice a month.
“It’s beyond refreshing to feel that your company’s leadership has its employees’ best interests in mind,” explained EMG’s Director of Project Management Ashley Matsui. “Working for such an exciting company that sees the value in an employee’s need for time off to recharge their batteries is new to me, but I have already seen a shift in attitude and productivity from my team. And this isn’t only because we get an additional day off twice a month; it’s also because they realize we all work for a company that cares for us!”
Along with the new 9/80 schedule, team members also enjoy extended one and a half hour lunch periods twice a week to improve their wellbeing. This new initiative promotes a healthy lifestyle in that employees are encouraged to spend their extra time engaging in physical activities such as lifting weights at the gym, playing in EMG basketball tournaments or taking a stroll at a nearby park.
“EMG’s consistent growth is evident not only in its sales and employee headcount figures but also in the benefits it offers its employees,” explained Norma Villicana, EMG’s Manager of People and Facilities. “In its ongoing effort to go beyond the traditional approach of simply offering insurance with competitive pay, EMG strives to also offer its team members opportunities to maintain a healthy lifestyle and everyday balance.”
To further promote health and wellness, EMG offers a complimentary array of health foods to snack on during the day or while playing video games or Wii during breaks or after work. The health of EMG’s team culture is also top of mind and is supported through regular events and outings, including its annual Earth Day potluck and regular lunches where EMG leadership meets for informal conversation to recharge its collaborative energies.
“We’re excited to provide such wellness-oriented benefits as options for our employees,” said Villicana. “Not only does our team benefit professionally and personally, these new benefits also attract like-minded individuals to fill EMG’s open positions. And, just as EMG continues to grow, so will its list of benefit offerings!”
In the coming months, EMG will also offer resources aimed to support their team members’ lifestyles via educational demonstrations and information sessions promoting optimal health and wellbeing. EMG also provides the full range of traditional employee benefits and perks in terms of its competitive salaries, employer-paid life, accidental death & dismemberment insurance, range of employee-subsidized medical and dental plans, employer-paid technical and management training, tuition reimbursement and business / employee referral program bonuses.
