Embryo transplant microscopes enable the three dimensional viewing of the embryo with high depth perception, allowing a very accurate analysis of the development of the embryo.
Embryo Transplant microscopes have been specially fitted with 20x microscope eyepieces, allowing the viewing of the embryo at twice the normal viewing capacity of traditional microscopes. This system removes the typical problem of embryo deterioration brought about by exposing the embryo to the incredibly hot surface of the microscope stage, which is normally the result of placing a halogen microscope light directly under the microscope stage plate. The light produced by reflected halogen microscope light is negligible and therefore not harmful to the embryo itself, without sacrificing light intensity.
In the case of equine embryo transfer, Embryo Transplant microscopes are also able to render digital images for study by veterinary doctors, to determine their condition during transfer and during the actual embryo implantation into the mare. Digital images are achieved by connecting the embryo transplant microscope to a personal computer or laptop via USB cable.
