  • San Antonio, TX (1888PressRelease) January 07, 2009 - With the assistance of 8 young boys, Social orphans of the State of Texas, the Texas Hunt Lodge officially opened their doors last weekend. The Texas Hunt Lodge, located between Hunt and Ingram, TX, is a hunter’s paradise, and could not have been open for business in 2008 without the hard work and sweat of 8 teenage foster children.

The eight teenage kids, aged 15 to 18, have renovated an old building dating back to the 1940s’ for the past 3 months. From framing, sheetrock, deck building, stripping cedar, plumbing, electrical, painting and staining, the 8 foster children have done it all. With only a $15,000 investment from Aaron and Joanie Bulkley, the foster children were able to turn a rundown building worth about $20,000 into a 2500 square foot hunter’s dream and business now with an estimated worth of $200,000. With little to no prior construction experience, the kids worked every day after school or football practice, as well as weekends, to complete a project that they are very proud of, and can now call their own part time business.

With the start of the New Year, the Texas Hunt Lodge will be open for business, and some of the boys will be employed part time as skinners, meat processors, cooks, and house cleaners. The Texas Hunt Lodge, operated full time by the Bulkley family, is a full service hunt package provider. The all inclusive hunts packages include exceptional Texas themed accommodations, over 46 Exotic game species to hunt year round in the Texas Hill Country, Exotic game meals, private access to the Guadalupe River, and much more. All hunts are guided and take place on one of 15 different ranches in the Kerrville area.

The boys have lived on the construction site at the home of Ralph and Virginia Bulkley, their foster parents, some for as many as 4 years, others as little as 4 months. All eight teenagers attend Ingram Tom Moore High School. More information about the Texas Hunt Lodge can be found online at www.texashuntlodge.com
