  • (1888PressRelease) September 14, 2016 - The Editors' Lounge returns from summer hiatus on Friday, September 30th with an evening dedicated to file-based workflows featuring presentations from ROOT6 Technology, Tektronix, Cinedeck and Rohde & Schwarz. The event will be held at AlphaDogs Post Production, 1612. W. Olive Ave. Burbank, CA 91506. The cost to attend is to bring your favorite beverage. Food provided compliments of the Editors' Lounge. Anand Jahagirdar, ROOT6 Technology's Head of Sales and Support North America will be demonstrating the latest iteration of ContentAgent, the company's file-based management and orchestration tool now platform certified by Avid to guarantee interoperability. A number of features designed to streamline workflow and enhance productivity will be shown including automated camera card ingest with CardAgent, an easy-to-use interface for non-technical operators. Automated resolution-independent transcoding with motion compensated frame-rate conversion saves time-consuming trips to baseband and comprehensive delivery workflows with automated QC now benefit from WAN acceleration and forensic watermarking.

Steven Holmes, Senior Video Application Engineer with Tektronix will give an in-depth presentation on file-based QC: what is it, when do you need it, and how do you choose a solution for it. Many Operations Managers feel that the explosion of video files, and formats with the requirements and delivery choices is becoming unmanageable. Holmes will explain how automated File Quality Control (QC) can trap errors that humans cannot see. Automation doesn't replace human QC staff but rather, makes them more efficient, increasing service quality and getting better leverage out of existing QC staff.

Charles Dautremont CTO of Cinedeck will present the latest features of cineXinsert, the world's only cross-codec cross-wrapper file-based insert editor. Since its launch earlier this year, cineXtools kit for OS X has already started changing the way Hollywood works. True file-based insert editing allows users to frame-accurately overwrite new segments of video, audio, or closed captioning in closed flat files, without re-rendering or re-exporting entire programs. Editors can dramatically increase their efficiency by using cineXinsert to make changes to files rather than repeating the multi-hour re-export and re-QC process. Attendees will get an up close look at how these features work including the newly added complete audio versioning module for reorganizing existing audio tracks or building new layouts.

Niklas Fabian, Solutions Architect for Rohde & Schwarz USA will demonstrate how to ingest content easily into editorial without waiting for transfer or re-wrapping processes using R&S VENICE, the ingest and production server. To address the requirement to serve different editing systems in constantly changing production environments, R&S VENICE generates files tailored for Adobe Premiere, Apple Final Cut Pro and Avid Media Composer, supporting "Edit while Ingest" and "Frame Chase Editing". Attendees will learn how to streamline daily production today in HD or 4K.

Jorge Zepeda, Applications Engineer for Rohde & Schwarz USA will present R&S CLIPSTER 6, featuring the all-new Hardware Scaler and Color processing engine with mathematically designed high precision color space transformations. Presentation will also include the creation of extended IMF packages with support for App2, App2e, App2+ Broadcast Profiles 1, 3 & 5 IMF Mainlevel profiles 6,7,8,9,10 & 11, which support emerging/experimental standards including HDR (Dolby Vision, HDR-10, HLG) and HFR.

The Editors' Lounge offers the opportunity to learn from post-production industry peers and networking with new and old friends. The Lounge opens at 6:30 p.m. with presentations beginning at 7:00 p.m. RSVP is required to attend. The price of admission is to bring your favorite beverage. Food provided compliments of the Editors' Lounge.
