November 04, 2008 - New York, NY -- Edcomm Banker’s Academy’s president, Dr. Linda Eagle, moderated a key panel discussion at the Islamic Financial New Forum Roadshow 2008 on October 15, 2008. The forum, held at Le Parker Meridien Hotel in New York, was sponsored in part by CIMB Islamic Bank and was one of Islamic Finance News global provider’s series of forums focusing on international participation in Shariah financing.
At the second session of the day-long forum, Dr. Linda Eagle led a lively discussion in which participants talked about the current US economic situation and Islamic Financing. Panelists who joined Dr. Linda Eagle at the session included Jonathan Rush Noody from the District Counsel US Treasury; Lewis Cohen, Partner of Clifford Chance; Alka Banerjee, the Vice President of Global Equities Standard & Poor’s; Moahanned Aama, Managing Director of Beam Capital Management; and Stephanie Brown, Managing Director of Calyx Financial. Dr. Linda Eagle interacted with the panelists to discuss important topics such as where the US is now in regards to Shariah law, Islamic Finance, regulatory finance and tax issues, recent developments in Islamic financing at home and abroad, the USA’s future role and prospects in Islamic Financing, and the USA’s role in Asia, the GCC, and the rest of the world.
