February 24, 2007 - FEB 21, 2007, UPPINGHAM, RUTLAND, DRAWING POEM - The poem is entitled “First Sense” and reveals itself to users as they scroll down a list of available items through hand drawn sketches of the letters individually posted to the site. Each drawing is a signed original sketch by the author in graphite and pen and measures 11x17 inches.
Though the title of the poem is not listed, the four word body of the poem can be viewed in the Contemporary Drawing category of the website, or by typing ‘drawing poem’ into the search box. The poem is the work of Tyler Fenn, an American sculptor/poet currently residing in Rutland, and as he explains “I realized that the listing format of ebay could be used to share a message”. What that message is, however, he will not say, but the artist does add, “it’s a love poem”.
The proceeds raised from the sale of the poem will go towards supporting the arts. The auction ends as the last letter disappears from the listings on the artists birthday, March 1, 2007.
