  • (1888PressRelease) May 12, 2011 - DENVER - Christenson's responsibilities as medical director of the center include program development, complete patient medical evaluations and on-going management, diagnostic interviews and collaborative patient care throughout a patient's time with EDCD. Christenson provides compassionate and supportive care for eating disorder patients using the bio-psycho-social-spiritual model combined with a firm foundation in the psycho-pharmacological management of patients.

    Christenson brings more than 26 years of medical treatment facilitation experience to EDCD. He previously worked at EDCD and now returns as medical director. In addition, Christenson is a retired Colonel with the U.S. Army, serving 28 years in Germany, Washington, Yugoslavia, California, and Fort Campbell, Ky., prior to retiring at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs. Christenson graduated from Johns Hopkins University, F. Edward Herbert School of Medicine, and completed his internship and residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C.

    Dr. Christenson has extensive experience in all forms of medical and psychiatric positions. Most recently, he was a psychiatrist for the Colorado Springs VA Mental Health Clinic. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, American Medical Association, Colorado Psychiatric Association and past president of the Colorado Springs Psychiatric Association.
