October 24, 2008 - Pleasanton, CA : About 2009 MINI models - The John Cooper Works (JCW) edition is the new high-performance model that figures in the 2009 MINI Cooper lineup. The all-new 2009 MINI JCW is available in Hardtop and Clubman body styles. It features a 208 horsepower turbocharged version of the 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine mated to a standard 6-speed manual transmission. High-performance brakes, 17-inch wheels, performance suspension and precise exhaust tuning are significant features.
The 2009 MINI Clubman with three doors and two rear "barn doors," is an extended version of the hatchback. All Cooper versions are available in Base and S trim levels with a single1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine. All Cooper S models are loaded with a hood scoop and sport suspension. Base Hatchback and Clubman models deliver 118 horsepower, while Base Convertibles produce 115 horsepower. MINI Cooper S Hatchback and Clubman vehicles make good of a 172 horsepower turbocharged engine, while S Convertibles are capable of 168 horsepower and are supercharged. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard on all models except the Base Convertible which gets a 5-speed manual.
Standard rear obstacle detection, fixed rear hoops, power fabric top with a heated glass rear window, and a "sunroof" mode that opens the top are offered on the all-new 2009 MINI Convertible.
High-tech safety features on MINI models include dynamic stability control, anti-braking system, traction control, electronic differential lock, electronic brake force distribution, hill assist and an anti-skid system. MINI Hardtop and Clubman models feature six airbags with air curtain system, while front side airbags that offers head and torso protection are standard on the Convertible.
