E & J Dry Cleaners Announces Program To Raise Money for Susan G. Komen
Local St. Paul Dry Cleaners Joins The Fight To Cure Breast Cancer via its self-created "Comforters for the Cure" program.
- Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN-WI (1888PressRelease) April 26, 2012 - E & J Drycleaners has long been a staple of St. Paul's Selby Avenue community. Located right next door to Mississippi Market, it has proudly served and supported the communities of Summit-Hill, Summit-University, Merriam Park, Lexington-Hamline, Midway & Downtown St. Paul for a couple of decades.
Beginning in May (2012), E & J will be joining the fight to cure breast cancer via its program, "Comforters for the Cure". Customers can aid the effort by bringing a comforter to be cleaned. For each comforter E & J Dry Cleaners receives through the end of 2012, it will make a $2 donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
"We're excited about this and have already received positive feedback since announcing our program", says Jim Beasley, the owner who is transitioning into retirement, and proudly credits his successor grandson with the idea. "My grandson suggested the program and I thought it was excellent, as E & J has always been community-minded".
But was the dry cleaning item selection being a comforter an accident? "No, not all." says Dameon Beasley, General Manager of E & J Dry Cleaners, a recent college grad and grandson of owner. "Those battling breast cancer are in need of comfort in every form; mentally, physically and emotionally. So, it was only natural that we symbolically chose a comforter as the fundraising vehicle item". He also informs this is just the beginning of many social-oriented programs from E & J. "My grandfather has always been committed to helping others. I call him the 'Silent Hero' because he does so many things for others - it's hard to keep up with all of them. And in most cases, I never even know about the things he does (for others) until the people he's helped tell me, years later. Papa always instilled the sense of giving back throughout our family, and I plan to continue this tradition".
