October 23, 2009 - Jacksonville, Florida - Robert Warriner, M.D., chief medical officer of Diversified Clinical Services has been awarded the Sharon Baranoski Founder’s Award which recognizes him as an expert in wound care treatment and disease management.
The Sharon Baranoski Founder’s Award recognizes the overall pursuit of excellence in the field by an individual or group who has enhanced the care of patients with wounds. Established by Wolters Kluwer Health/Lippincott Williams & Wilkins to recognize the efforts of Sharon Baranoski, MSN, RN, CWOCN, APN, FAPWCA, FAAN, in founding the meeting 24 years ago, the award will be presented during a ceremony at the Clinical Symposium on Advances in Skin & Wound Care.
Candidates for the award were nominated by clinicians in the wound care industry, the nominees represent excellence in innovative educational approaches, cost-benefit approaches to practice, unique treatments which significantly impact patient care, or leadership that has fostered the profession of wound care. The winner receives an educational grant of $2,000 sponsored by HealthPoint.

A certified wound specialist, Warriner is also certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and the American Board of Preventive Medicine in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and the American College of Hyperbaric Medicine. In the full-time practice of wound care since 1981 and hyperbaric medicine since 1991, Warriner was recently awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the World Union of Wound Healing Societies. He has authored many scientific publications and is a frequent regional, national and international speaker on wound management, hyperbaric medicine and quality improvement.
