  • Philadelphia, PA-NJ (1888PressRelease) August 22, 2014 - Maria Delivoria-Papadopoulos, MD, was recently announced as the 2014 recipient of the Trust Fund of the Alumni Association of Women's Medical College MCP Phyllis Marciano, MD, Woman in Medicine Award. Dr. Delivoria-Papadopoulous is the Chief of the Section of Neonatal- Perinatal Medicine and an Attending Neonatologist at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, located at 160 East Erie Avenue in Philadelphia, Pa. The award presentation took place on Friday, June 6 at the Faculty Development Day at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia.

    According to the WMC/MCP website, the Phyllis Marciano, MD, Woman in Medicine Award is given annually to a female physician, scientist or staff member to recognize her leadership, teaching of students, and status as a role model for women in medicine.

    Dr. Delivoria-Papadopoulos received her medical degree at National University, School of Medicine, Athens, Greece. A naturalized U.S. citizen since 1970, she has been a visiting professor, keynote speaker and has given Grand Rounds several times per year at universities and medical centers throughout the U.S, South America, Europe and Asia for over 35 years. Dr. Delivoria-Papadopoulos is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including the American Academy of Pediatrics Lifetime Achievement Award, and the National Lifetime Achievement Award from Castle Connolly. She has served several terms for the National Institutes of Health, and is a member of numerous honorary and scientific societies including being the recipient of three honorary degrees from universities. She has served on many academic and hospital committees and is a reviewer for top scientific journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine. Her clinical writings appear in over 970 publications. Her areas of clinical interest include Neonatal care, Neonatal Brain Injury and Physiology.
