July 12, 2008 - Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has chosen Dr. Alok Aggarwal, the Co-founder and Chairman of Evalueserve, for the prestigious “Distinguished Alumni Award” for the year 2008. This award, the highest honour conferred by the institute on its alumni, acknowledges individuals who have excelled in their chosen fields and have made significant contributions to the corporate world at a global level.
IIT Delhi recognises the contributions made by Dr. Aggarwal as an Outstanding Corporate Leader who has earned recognition in the international community through innovations, particularly in laying a unique business model at Evalueserve and scripting a new success story.
The other awardees for the year were Mr. Vineet Agrawal, the President of Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting, and Prof. D. V. Khakhar of the Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Mumbai.
Dr. Alok Aggarwal is the Co-founder and Chairman of Evalueserve. He started the company in December 2000 with five people. The company has now grown to 2,200 people with four full-fledged global delivery centres in the United States, India, China and Chile, and another one to be opened by March 2008 in Cluj, Romania.
In July 1997, Dr. Aggarwal ‘Founded’ the IBM India Research Laboratory that he set up at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. He started this laboratory from ‘ground zero’ and built it into a 60-member team (approximately 30 PhDs and 30 Masters) by July 2000. During August–November 2000 and prior to starting Evalueserve, Dr. Aggarwal was the Director of Emerging Business Opportunities for IBM Research Division worldwide. In this capacity, his responsibilities included converting business innovations into business models, and then introduce them into the market to create profitable businesses.
