Doctor Discusses Mental Health Treatment For Individuals With Tourette Syndrome

New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome presents Wednesday Webinar series of informative presentations for the general public and professional developement.


(1888PressRelease) October 25, 2008 - The New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome and Associated Disorders, Inc. presents Mental Health Treatment for Individuals with Tourette Syndrome: What’s Available and Can it Help? –Wed. Oct. 29 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. The presentation is a free webinar as part of NJCTS’s ongoing Wednesday Webinar series.

The event will be led by Lori Rockmore, Psy.D. Dr. Rockmore is Clinical Director of the Tourette Syndrome Program at Rutgers University Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology. She will discuss how psychological services can benefit individuals with TS and the treatment options that are available. Tourette Syndrome is a neurological disorder that features involuntary motor or vocal tics. TS affects as many as 1 in 200 individuals with as many as 28,000 children in New Jersey.

Individuals with Tourette Syndrome may also suffer from co-morbid disorders such as ADD/ADHD, rage, depression, GAD, and other problems which can confuse the diagnosis of TS and whose treatments may be inappropriate for those with TS. Dr. Rockmore will address these issues and more during this free presentation which is open to the public.

Professional development credits will be offered for this webinar. There is no charge to attend this session and a toll-free number will be provided to listen to the audio portion of the presentation. The video portion of the presentation can be viewed by logging on to a website which will be provided at registration.
