October 31, 2008 - It's a bird. Is that his plane? Yes, it is. It's… It's DJ Shogun. New York's super hero disc jockey was summoned to set the vibe for the launch of Global Grind, a star-studded event, hosted by Russell Simmons and Brett Ratner at the W Hotel in West Los Angeles. Global Grind, a community based website, is a new innovation. It allows people to discover and share content from anywhere on the web, by linking to, voting for, and commenting on each others content, in a social and democratic way.
Shogun's professionalism was evident as the East Coast native set the LA dance floor ablaze. The beauty queen herself, Vanessa Williams showed up looking as good as only she can but she better watch out because heart throb Lauren London was also in attendance. Comedian Kim Coles brought her sparkle to the party as well as super producer Rafael Saadiq. One glance at the packed dance floor and you could tell the people were in a groove. DJ Shogun spun the tunes that brought out the best dance moves in everyone. "This is the first time that I have seen Russell Simmons dance," commented the warrior deejay as he concluded his set at 1a.m. although the party was set to end at 10p.m.
Over the past week, DJ Shogun has rocked parties in New York, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles and will continue his successful run as he returns to New York for a host of events including "The Second Annual Ghost Ball" hosted by Thomas Jones and Kerry Rhodes of The New York Jets to benefit Safe Horizon.
Within the mix of catching flights to his next gig and putting out quality mixtapes, Shogun has found the time to add even more to his plate. He recently launched a blog called the DJ Tech Report (www.djtechreport) which highlights new technologies in the DJ world. DJ Shogun was the first DJ to use Final Scratch, a computer based program that integrates the use of a laptop and turntables, in the New York area.
