April 25, 2008 - Discovery Initiatives is pleased to announce the launch of a brand new tour to the jungles of Uganda: http://www.discoveryinitiatives.co.uk/discover/trip/Uganda/Chimpanzee_ and_Gorilla_Study_Tour. Justin Wateridge, MD of Discovery Initiatives, described the trip as an opportunity to “…explore the incredible diversity of Uganda’s people, its Chimpanzees and Gorillas, in the company of one of the region’s top primatologists.”
Uganda is a land of true contrasts, where the Eastern savannah meets the Western African jungle with dramatic effect. No other African destination has the range of habitats that can be seen in Uganda which offers some of the most varied wildlife experiences possible and attracts the more special interest wildlife enthusiast.
This primate safari, led by Julia Lloyd, one of the most enthusiastic primatologists and ‘Ugandaphiles’ travellers are ever likely to meet, aims to go beyond the conventional tours, and give travellers real insight into the Great Apes of Uganda, as well as some of the other wildlife in this unique region. Furthermore, her love for its peoples will allow visitors to enjoy traditional Ugandan hospitality and view community conservation initiatives to get a real feel for the warmth of its people.
Justin Wateridge commented: ”In addition to being a fascinating tour, this trip is eco-friendly as well: a contribution is given from each primate safari to sustain community conservation efforts in Kibale National park, the Virungas and includes a year’s membership to the Jane Goodall Institute.”
