dGenerate Records Announces Expansion Plan

  • (1888PressRelease) October 14, 2014 - Incubator label dGenerate Records is growing, unveiling an expansion plan on Monday that significantly broadens its reach by adding four other labels to dGenerate's family, now under a new name.

Under this plan, the company is now called dGenerate Music Group (DMG). Its flagship imprint dGenerate Records will continue with its EDM-focused roster. DMG expands its offerings to include more EDM, rock and pop.

The DMG family now includes indie rock Midnight Empire Records, pop imprint Idol Mind, specialty EDM label BluBoi Beats, and the alternative No.1 No.Where Street Recordings.

The dGenerate publishing unit will also expand with the introduction of an online licensing system in development now. The dGenerate catalog has grown extensively in 2014, with acquisitions and co-publishing agreements. Earlier this year, Jones struck a deal with Dstorted Media in Amsterdam, a society of EDM artists and songwriters, giving dGenerate exclusive publishing rights to the society's entire catalog.

The expansion plan has been guided by label chief Michael Jones, who said, "Although we speak of it as a new development, this expansion has been in the 'master plan' from day one. The difference is in the timing. As I'm discovering with all things dGenerate, the business blossomed quicker than I expected, so we, too, have to accelerate our execution."

Beyond the expansion, dGenerate's plans include new technology initiatives. "Given the capabilities of the Web today, we have enormous opportunities for connecting with fans and delivering content," Jones said. He will be serving as creative director for a multimedia Web experience produced for pop artist Francis Bowie's upcoming EP, "Sex, Drugs and Thrilling," later this year.

Founded in 2010 as part of KounterKulture Mgmt, dGenerate is home to a growing roster of edgy musical artists and publisher of EDM, pop and rock music. Its current roster features two break-out artists: Bowie, whose singles "Number One" and "Sunny Day" are gaining traction in the US, and EDM artists Vegamoore, who are seeing their collaboration with Ze "TakeYou Down" enjoy wide play.
