  • (1888PressRelease) December 01, 2016 - NASSCOM and Dewang Mehta Foundation Trust in association with Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV) and Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) along with Syscraft Information System and GWB hosted the Dewang Mehta Memorial Lecture and Felicitation of toppers from different engineering colleges of the city of Indore. The event was held at the Ravindra Natya Gruh, Indore on Thursday November 24th, 2016.

    Dewang Mehta was one of the illustrious sons of India. He was singly responsible for leading Indian IT industry and NASSCOM from 1991 till his untimely demise in 2001. He was synonymous with the success of the Indian IT sector and his contribution to the industry was immeasurable. Dewang represented a new breed of Indian who is competent, articulate, competitive, self-less, modern and supremely self-confident. He was the visible face of an emerging force, the Indian IT industry.

    Dewang Mehta Foundation Trust has initiated diverse initiatives for the development and up-liftmen of the IT industry. They felt the need to generate enthusiasm and to create awareness among students about the opportunities and prospects available in IT & CS education.

    Toppers from all engineering colleges of Indore were felicitated at this event.

    Commenting during the conference, Dr. Chetan Samant, Regional Head (West), NASSCOM & Advisor-DMFT said that, 'As we are seeing the youth of Indore working in different industry verticals, across our country and abroad, reflects the huge potential of the region.

    Speaking at the event Mr. Avnish Sharma, CEO, Syscraft Information System talked about creating a platform where educational institutes and IT Industry join hands to facilitate talent and create industry ready resources. He shared the importance of such events in creating a platform and suggested to make it even bigger for next year by inviting even more colleges from MP to participate.

    The event is organised for the first time with an objective of spreading awareness about the region across verticals and recognising the talent of students on the Indore Region.'

    Dewang Mehta Memorial Lecture 2016 was delivered by Prof Deepak B. Phatak - IIT Mumbai. Prof Phatak, is an Indian computer scientist and academic, and a recipient of the Padma Shri Award for his contribution in science and technology in 2013. He has worked very closely with Dewang Mehta. Prof Piyush Trivedi, Vice Chancellor - RGPV was the guest of honour. The welcome address was given by Mr. P Sriganesh - Trustee, DMFT.

    Based on the great feedback and the enthusiasm, from next year, onwards DMFT along with NASSCOM will be making it bigger by introducing project competition amongst various college student and award & felicitate the winners. Towards that ultimate goal the co-ordinators had organized a half day workshop which was conducted by Mr. Chendil Kumar on communicate and connect and Dr. Bhooshan Kelkar on choosing projects, building career and entrepreneurship for students of various colleges in and around Indore. Simultaneously a round-table interaction between above consultants and faculty members of Indore College was also organized.

    The event saw a participation of 200 + toppers from Technical Colleges in Indore along with Faculty member and accompanying Parents. The Local IT Industry from Indore was also present for this event.
