January 03, 2009 - Delhi to host India’s largest international conference on VLSI design & embedded systems “Made for India” forum to showcase innovations targeted at the Indian market Conference to focus on ‘Improving roductivity Through Higher Abstraction’.
Chennai, January 02, 2009: A highlight of the event which will be of interest to both the industry and academia is the “Made for India” forum which will showcase innovation targeted at the Indian market in the semiconductor space. A three-day technical program starting 5th January will feature keynote and plenary talks by industry leaders, technical paper presentations that reflect the state-of-the-art in VLSI design and embedded systems. It will be followed by a two day tutorial, design contest and EDA software contest. The high profile international conference, the industry’s largest and most prestigious is expected to have over 800 delegates from across the world.
Sponsored by the VLSI Society of India (VSI) and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) among others, the conference is a forum for researchers and designers to present and discuss various aspects of VLSI design, electronic design automation (EDA), enabling technologies, and embedded systems. Eminent personalities of VLSI, EDA and Embedded world like Justin R Rattner (CTO, Intel), Abhi Talwarkar (President and CEO, LSI), Neil Henderson (GM, Mentor Graphics), Thomas W Williams (Fellow, Synopsys), Ajoy K Bose (CEO, Atrenta) and Prof Jacob Abraham (UT Austin) will present the keynotes and special invited talks. Leading Electronic Design Automation (EDA) and IC design companies will display their products at the technical exhibition and industry forum to be held between Jan 5-7. Also, there will be a dedicated one day event, on Jan 7th to provide student community opportunity to learn more about VLSI and interact with the industry. The conference covers the entire gamut of activities under the two arms of the semiconductor industry - VLSI, and embedded systems.
According to Dr. Vishwani D Agrawal, spokeperson for the soceity,“The VLSI Conference has grown in stature and size each year and with the debut of the “Made for India” forum and other initiatives, its reach and impact interms of the industry’s direction ahead is going to be even more profound. We look forward to the industry benefiting from the platform and moving forward with the inputs and knowledge shared at the conference.”
About VLSI Conference and VSI - The VLSI Society of India was formed in 1989 with the noble goal of making India a strong force in VLSI. Activities in the VLSI area in India were limited at that time, and the number of professionals working in the VLSI area were also fewer. Now, over a hundred companies are working in India in the areas of chip design, embedded system design, electronic design automation, and design services. The VLSI Design Conference, which has been sponsored by the VLSI Society of India, has grown significantly in the past 15 years, with the number of participants reaching 800. The VLSI Design and Test Workshops, another event sponsored by the VLSI Society of India, has also grown since its inception in 1998 and now attracts over 300 participants.
