Decatur, Illinois native Stacey E. Slaw opens the door into mind of one of the most feared, most misunderstood people in America, (The Young Black Male), in his debut poetry book "Afro Indigo." |
|
This book is unique in that it was written by someone who has lived the street life, violence, drugs, love, gangs, the emotions/anger behind the social conditions created by politics, and then incarceration. To take all of the emotions created by this kind of living and turn it into colors, smells, flavors, sounds, different shades of blue, and then put into words, that is unique. This is poetry.
