Downchild Blues Band To Play Benefit For Jane Vasey Memorial Scholarship Fund |
| Downchild blues band is headlining a special performance at Hugh's Room on Tuesday November 27. Joined by pianist Bill King and Toronto's leading New Orleans-style band The Happy Pals in a celebration in memory of Jane Vasey, who played keyboards in Downchild for eight years before her death in 1982, the event is a benefit for the Jane Vasey Memorial Scholarship fund set up at Brandon University. |

The latest nomination has Ms. K contending for the Best Blues award in the Ontario Independent Music Awards, on the strength of her 2007 release “Old, New, Borrowed & Blues”. The awards will be held at the Phoenix Theatre in Toronto on November 15. |

| Al "Coffee" McDaniel may be a new voice to the Blues, but he is not new to the world of music. He has been performing professionally since he was five years old. It was then that he fronted a gospel band. Granted this band was comprised of siblings, but he knew even then what course his life would take, and the direction he would pursue. |
