  • (1888PressRelease) February 14, 2011 - Toronto - dance Immersion announced today the launch of DinDance.com, a social networking dedicated to dancers and dance professionals.
    The website is currently showcasing Into the roots... Beyond The Leaves, a collaborative dance work that encompasses the blending of styles and forms of up-and-coming choreographer Jasmyn Fyffe and senior choreographer Vivine Scarlett.

    Five dancers (Jasmyn Fyffe, Trudy Lee Gayle, Esie Mensah, Natasha Phanor, Shaleeka Scarlett,) execute this full evening work that examines and explores the different ways we view ourselves and the things that influence us to change.

    ABOUT THE CHOREOGRAPHERS

    Jasmyn Fyffe

    Jasmyn Fyffe is a dancer, choreographer and teacher. Fyffe's formal training began at the Ontario School of Ballet, Interplay School of Ballet and continued at The School of Toronto Dance Theatre, Ballet Creole and York University where she graduated with an Honours Double Major in Dance and Kinesiology in 2007. While studying at York, Fyffe discovered a love and passion for choreography and performance and decided to pursue this as her career. Upon graduation, Fyffe founded her company Jasmyn Fyffe Dance, formerly known as (ASM Dance). As an independent choreographer, Fyffe has been commissioned by Agincourt Penecostal Church, Cathedral Productions, Obsidian Theatre, and Dramatic Change Youth Theatre. Jasmyn performed in the touring musical UMOJA and has performed for Dance Migration, KasheDance, Calu Entertainments, Linda Garneau and InDuo Danceworks. She has also been invited to perform and teach in the Project Dance Festival in New York City and Atlanta.

    Vivine Scarlett

    Vivine Scarlett is a choreographer, instructor, and administrator whose artistic goals and aspirations are rooted in the love of dance. She was Artistic Director and a performing member of the Usafiri Dance & Drum Ensemble, creating works in both traditional-influenced and contemporary African dance styles. Vivine is Founder and Program Director for dance Immersion, an organization that produces and presents dancers and dances of the African Diaspora providing a number of diverse programs for children and adults.
