June 25, 2007 - DANCE COMPETITION CULMINATES WITH R&B SINGER CHRIS BROWN CONCERT!
Platinum R&B artist Chris Brown headlines at the Dance Down 2007, the premiere freestyle dance competition. Chris will perform hit songs, including his latest single, Wall to Wall. A talented performer, dancer and singer, Chris Brown is the perfect compliment to this exciting night of music and dancing.
Dance Down 2007 is one of the biggest dance competitions in the Midwest exhibiting “free style” and “footwork” dance techniques. Just as “Stepping” is a Chicago-based dance style, a new generation of dancers are coming forward with a unique dance style all their own. Commonly known as “footwork” or “freestyle”, dancers demonstrate complex body movements and amazing syncopated foot movements, usually to Hip Hop music.
Individual dancers and groups will have the opportunity to compete for titles and over $7500 in cash prizes.
This is the second annual Dance Down competition. Dance Down 2006 was wildly successful, and dancers performed for a sold out arena of over 9,000 fans in Chicago at the UIC Pavilion. Kemo was crowned the “King of Footwork” in 2006, and this year’s challengers will have to bring their A-game.
Dance Down 2007 travels to Gary, Indiana at the Genesis Convention Center on July 5, 2007. Show starts at 7:00 pm; general admission tickets are only $30.00. Tickets are available at the Genesis Convention Center box office in Gary, Indiana and Ticketmaster, www.ticketmaster.com.
