  • (1888PressRelease) June 11, 2011 - The Australia Gas Conference 2011, a brand new feather to CWC's Global Gas Series portfolio, will run from 31 October to 2 November 2011 in Sydney, providing the opportunity for the international gas industry to meet Australian decision makers, highlighting Australia as a groundbreaking gas province.

    Australia is already the fourth-largest LNG exporter in the world and has over US$200 billion of LNG projects in the pipeline, aiming to triple production to 60 million tonnes a year by 2020 (Source: Reuters.com) and its impact on the global gas industry cannot be ignored. Australia is forecast to be the second largest LNG supplier by 2015 and gas output is expected to overtake Malaysia's by 2020 and Indonesia's by 2025 which will make Australia the biggest gas producer in the Asia-Pacific.

    In partnership with the International Gas Union (IGU), and endorsed by the IGU's Australian representative, the Australian Gas Industry Trust (AGIT), and supported by the New South Wales Government, Australia Gas 2011 has been created in response to industry demand and will include focused sessions and topics such as project showcase, partnerships, growth opportunities, environmental challenges and international trading, whilst reinforcing the importance of gas as the fuel of choice globally. Torstein Indrebø, Secretary General of the International Gas Union explains, "Australia Gas will focus exclusively on the natural gas market and the forum will promote future opportunities within Australia and showcase development in conventional and unconventional gas projects".
