October 08, 2007 - The Golden and Silver Icon Awards presented annually by Travolta Family Entertainment have been announced for 2006-2007.
In the Culinary division, winners include restaurants in Illinois, Texas, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts. Wine, Spirits, and Beer winners include domestic and International imports.
FOOD
Best Pizza honors went to Pat’s Pizza of Greyslake, IL. Best Pizza Chain honors went to Sarpino’s Pizzeria. This is the second consecutive win for both companies.
The individual award for Best Steak went to Saltgrass Steak House of San Antonio, TX. Best Steak House Chain honors went to Ruth’s Chris Steak House.
Best Burger accolades went to Coleman & Company of Woodstock, IL. Best Burger Chain honors went to Jack in the Box, it’s second win in the category.
For Italian food, Best Italian Restaurant honors went to Ralph’s Italian Restaurant of Philadelphia, PA. For the second year in a row, Olive Garden won for Best Italian Restaurant Chain.
The Parish Café of Boston, MA won top honors for Best Sandwich. Best Sandwich Chain honors went to Jimmy John’s, which won the same award the prior year.
WINE, BEER, & SPIRITS
In the Best Domestic Beer category, Old Style Light won top honors. Meanwhile, Victory Golden Monkey won top honors for Best Specialty Beer.
The Award for Best Import Light Beer went to Chimay Blanche from Belgium. Meanwhile, Dieu du Ciel Peche Mortel from Canada won Best Import Dark Beer.
Best Vodka honors went to Iceberg; Best Rum honors went to Redrum Voodoo Spiced Rum; Best Tequila honors went to Chaya Silver; Best Gin honors went to Henderick’s; Best Whiskey honors went to Van Winkle Family Reserve Rye; Best Liqueur honors went to Paula’s Texas Orange Liqueur; Best Schnapps honors went to Goldschlager Cinnamon Schnapps; and Best Sparkling Wine/Champagne honors went to DOMAINE CARNEROS Le Reve Carneros. It is the second year in a row Chaya has won in the tequila category.
