April 04, 2009 - The summer season approaching means it's time to bust out the bikini and start getting in shape before you hit the beach. But if you're one of those people who hate the gym and dread the treadmill, it's good news that Creation Dance, a specialist dance school for adult beginners based in London UK, is a setting up their popular adult street dance class, Urban Groovz, in Hong Kong meaning getting into shape the fun way just got easier.
Creation has been running classes in London for the past three years. Expert dance teacher, Ainhoa Rey, has taught over 2000 beginners in her Urban Groovz and Disco Heaven classes and she believes the success of the classes is down to the fun and friendly attitude and approach she takes. "These courses are designed for people who’ve always wanted to dance, and were perhaps a bit shy, or nervous but now want to give it a go. The average age of our clients is about 28, so it really is never too late. The courses are relaxed and friendly which means you don't have to worry about having two left feet!", she says, "Most of the people in our classes have never danced before and once they get started they find it really easy to pick up the moves, which are especially designed for complete beginners."
Alison, 31, agrees, "I have really enjoyed taking the course, and the teacher is fantastic. She makes the routines interesting and challenging, but takes time to help us all get it right."
Activities such as dance not only give you a work out whilst you boogie, they increase co-ordination and memory skills as well as boosting your confidence, leaving you feeling fabulous.
Regular exercise such as dance can lead to a lower blood pressure, improved cholesterol levels and a reduced heart rate and a half-hour session can burn between 200-400 calories - just as many as walking, swimming or riding a bike. So what are you waiting for?
