  • Reno-Sparks, NV (1888PressRelease) December 10, 2014 - Robert E. Stover, Parish Associate at St. John's Presbyterian Church, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry.

    Robert E. Stover, who holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and Social Studies from Pennsylvania State University and a Master's Degree in Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary, is an ordained minister of the Presbyterian Church, USA, who has dedicated his life to serving the Prince of Peace as a Christian minister since 1952.

    While serving as a naval officer in World War II and visiting Hiroshima where he had met six little Japanese children, Mr. Stover had an 'ah-ha' moment that left him realizing that all children of the world are loved by Jesus. It was at that very moment that he would begin his calling to the ministry.

    After completing his first college degree and then seminary, Mr. Stover served as pastor of several churches in North Dakota, New York, California, and Nevada. Prior to moving to California he completed five semesters of clinical training at St. Elizabeth's Mental Hospital in Washington, DC, after which he was appointed as head chaplain at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Hollywood, California, and as a parish minister to the Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church. His ministry continues as a chaplain at Renown Medical Center and Tahoe Pacific Hospital, in addition to being a teaching elder at St. John's Presbyterian Church, where he now serves as a parish associate.

    "My training and experience as a public school teacher and a clinically trained clergyman contribute greatly to my work," Mr. Stover said. "Many people have inspired me in my life and I plan to continue to engage in hospital and church ministry as long as my health permits."

    Mr. Stover authored a published a book in 2013, entitled 'Becoming Well Again', which can be purchased at Amazon.com. All royalties are being donates to medical research. He served in the US Navy from 1943-46 during WWII, served as co-leader for a cancer support group, ran in the Los Angeles marathon three times until the age of 67, ran with the Olympic Torch in 2002, was honored for being the oldest graduate of International Theological Seminary to receive a doctorate degree in the history of the seminary in 2006, and served as co-leader for a cancer support group. He currently lives in Reno, Nevada, with his wife, Sarah, to be closer to their youngest son, David, and his wife, Cheryl.
