Turcios, who holds a Bachelor's Degree in Therarpeutic Recreation from Fresno State University and a Master's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation with honors from San Jose State University, founded his not-for-profit organization in October 2009.

    Mr. Turcios, who was born with severe cerebral palsy, began playing golf at the age of 7. Now an accomplished golfer and golf instructor at adult schools for more than 20 years, he founded his unique non-profit and now serves as their executive director and also teaches golf, as therapy, to veterans with traumatic brain injuries, adults with autism, and disabled and able-bodied students at US Berkeley, supplying golf clubs, green fees, and range balls to the veterans and autistic students through his foundation. He also attends meetings of the Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club, and other community organizations to give presentations to benefit his non-profit and to gather used golf equipment.

    "I enjoy teaching golf just as much as I enjoy playing the game," Mr. Turcios said.

    Remembering a time in his life when he was not allowed to play golf at a local municipal golf course due to his disability, Mr. Turcios has spent a lifetime breaking down stereotypes in which a disabled person cannot play the sport. He hopes to hopes to replicate his golf teaching programs in other areas of the country in the future, to help individuals improve posture, balance, strength, and accuracy. He also hopes to gain several major sponsorships that will allow him to bring home a salary for his teaching programs.

    Featured on the Golf Channel in a video that showed him teaching his classes to both disabled people and able-bodied students, Mr. Turcios was also featured on Comcast's Hometown Hero award program for Bay Area people who make a positive difference in their communities and on ABC7 news in a video about his programs and successes.
