  • Orlando, FL (1888PressRelease) May 30, 2015 - David W. Jarvis, Owner and Artist of Jarvis Productions, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry.

Graduating from Art Center College of Design Summa Cum Laude in 1971, David W. Jarvis has spent his time living and working in Copenhagen, Los Angeles, New York, Florida, and Georgia. Mastering his craft in the world of art, he has been doing oil paintings since the age of 12, studying and taking art classes throughout elementary and high school. Inspired by the great masters and geniuses throughout history, from Michelangelo and Leonardo DaVinci to Titian and John Singer Sargent, Mr. Jarvis's earlier influences were mostly working artists.

Having always focused primarily on the human form, both Mr. Jarvis's figurative work and portraiture evoke his passion for painting more than other directions. Attempting to convey deeper truths on many levels, some of which are not readily apparent but somewhat revealed upon analysis of hidden structure and composition, such as the Golden Section, he hopes to have some of his famous images, including a NASA painting, several album covers, and movie posters to the market as prints in the very near future.

As the President, Creative Director, and Creator of Jarvis Productions, all of his artwork and prints are marketed by him. His most recent project, 'ROOTS: An American Family Saga', is a very high quality art print that is in the hands of many African American leaders and organizations and has been very well received thus far.

"My greatest gifts and the great education I had to develop these talents to their fullest accomplishment have made me who I am today," Mr. Jarvis said.

Mr. Jarvis has painted more than 30 movie posters, including The Great American Cowboy, Frazier the Lovable Lion, and Penitentiary II, has done album covers for Frank Sinatra/Gene Kelly, Charlie Chaplin, Elvis Presley, Jimmy Buffet, and others, as well as soundtrack covers for TV's miniseries 'ROOTS', has done a number of magazine editorial illustrations, including 'Cosmopolitan', 'Seventeen', 'Fortune', and 'Golf Digest', and is the creator of the 1990 Right Guard Poster that is on permanent display at the NASCAR Hall of Fame and Museum in Talledega, Alabama. In 2003, Mr. Jarvis was invited to exhibit at the Florence Biennale as an exhibiting artist for the USA. He has also earned many other awards and accolades for his works over the course of his 40-plus career-long venture.

Serving in the US Army in Germany in Operations and Intelligence, Top Secret Clearance, Airborne, in the mid-1960s, Mr. Jarvis spent several trimesters studying at the University of Florida, later graduating from Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, California with a full, academic scholarship where he majored in illustration and minored in ad design. He spent time freelancing as far back as 1969, worked as a consultant and design director for an ad agency in Florida in the late 80s, and worked on two feature films, 'Mulan' and 'Tarzan', from 1997-99 with Walt Disney Feature Animation Florida.
