  • San Jose, CA (1888PressRelease) March 14, 2014 - Betty L. Moe, who holds an AA in Psychology and a second Associate's Degree in Nursing, both from Evergreen Valley College, is a registered nurse who holds a certification in professional teaching credentials level II. She has spent more than 30 years in the industry.

Beginning her career in 1966 as a certified nursing assistant in California, Ms. Moe simultaneously joined the US Army stationed at Fort San Huston working in Brookes General and Beach Pavilion Hospital. In 1983 she became a registered nurse and in 2001 transitioned into teaching. Retiring from teaching in 2013, Ms. Moe ventured into a new position as director of education of BMEC School of Nursing, which is currently in the process of being open.

Now wearing many hats, Ms. Moe will be in charge of interviewing and hiring new employees and prospective students with BMEC. She will be assessing and conducting job evaluations of both employees and students, while also maintaining all files. She will be overseeing the clinical instructor and teaching theory for the certified nursing program until a replacement is found. She will also attend educational meetings, fundraising events, various speaking engagements, conferences, seminars, and workshops to stay abreast of new technology and maintain her license.

"After seeing many people over the years make harmful mistakes due to a lack of education, I went into teaching so I could direct and educate others," Ms. Moe said.

Also inspired by her very ill father and older sister who suffered from lung cancer, Ms. Moe has always enjoyed working in the healthcare field. For more than three decades, she has learned the ins and outs of the field, has served as staff nurse for a hospital, as a p.m. supervisor, worked in the emergency room, surgical units, rehabilitation units, in skilled nursing, certified industrial health nursing, as a nurse manager and home health aide supervisor, and as a hospice nurse. She's taught the CNA program, home health aide program, and the acute care CNA program for the past 12 years, and has experience working in a military hospital while serving in the US Army, and in a veteran hospital and civilian hospitals as a civilian.

Ms. Moe is excited about her new role as director of education. She hopes to someday become an administrator for a school and would love to build a school reputation for her students that employers, hospitals, and health agencies will be eager to work with.
