Some retailers that have performed particularly well over the past year include Urban Outfitters, Nordstrom and American Eagle Outfitters. Beauty and jewelery merchants have also seen strong growth, with analysts attributing this trend towards increased confidence among consumers in completing larger transactions online. Companies that have benefited from this trend include Jewelry Television, Blue Nile, Ice.com and Drugstore.com.
The profile of the computer accessory and electronics market has changed over the past year. New retailers entered the market, and gained initial traction through competing heavily on price. This forced larger retailers, such as buy.com and newegg.com, to compete more on price, causing smaller retailers to be acquired or go out of business.
