December 31, 2008 - Correlation Systems has finished the adaptation of the ViSAGE platform for use within the SORMA project. The ViSAGE platform represents a shift from the conventional view of video monitoring applications as hardware, and a move towards a world in which video monitoring is provided as a utility service. This enables end users to implement video monitoring solutions in a cheap, reliable and easily available manner, in addition to gaining access to analytic capabilities, formally available to high end users only.

What is SORMA?
The SORMA (Self-Organizing ICT Resource Management) project deals with the development of methods and tools for an efficient market-based allocation of resources, through a self organizing resource management system, using market- driven models supported by extensions for Grid infrastructures.
Market Based Resource Management allows flexible and distributed decision making process rather than the traditional central allocation process. The central commander provides “guidelines” to the operational units, while each unit is flexible to request resources based on the relative importance of the resource to the current mission. The mechanism is performed using a set of computer assisted tools that are able to translate the commander guidelines to markets bids.
The SORMA toolkit is composed of the following:
• Smart bidder – automatic bidding based on user strategy
• Market place – Decision making place for resource allocation
The SORMA toolkit is a software API design for market based resource allocation and will be available in 2009 as an open source toolkit.
About ViSAGE – (Video Stream Analysis in a Grid Environment)
Video Analysis is a general term used to describe the use of advanced algorithms to process video data. ViSAGE is a technology used for processing of video streams using a GRID of computational nodes.
