Contentnea Creek Development’s Bishop’s Grant Community Receives Wake Forest Green Medal Of Excellence Award

Town recognizes company for exceeding town development requirements

Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) April 06, 2007 - Contentnea Creek Development Company of Raleigh has been presented with a 2007 Green Medal of Excellence award by the Wake Forest Urban Forestry Board. The award recognized Contentnea Creek’s work in the Bishop’s Grant community which exceeded the town’s development requirements in providing more open space, conservation easements, and additional landscape buffers and street plantings. Bishop’s Grant was nominated by the Urban Forestry Board, and was presented with the award during the 29th Arbor Day celebration in Wake Forest on March 22.

The Urban Forestry Board awards Green Medals to individuals, groups, and businesses that promote good environmental stewardship and excellence in service, while demonstrating an unwavering commitment to the enhancement of Wake Forest’s urban forest.

The Green Medal of Excellence is designed to honor a program or project which promotes good urban forestry or environmental practice, or to a development which has shown excellence in tree preservation or landscaping. Only those developments which exceed The Town of Wake Forest requirements or meet them by using particularly creative methods such as innovative planting or design are considered.

“This award is testament to Contentnea Creek Development’s dedication to creating neighborhoods and communties that provide the best quality of life for their residents,” said Jonna Birtcher, vice president of development for Contentnea Creek. “For Bishop’s Grant to be recognized by Wake Forest’s Urban Forestry Board with this award is truly an honor for our company and its employees.”

Bishop’s Grant is a new community of 172 distinguished single-family homes and 48 town homes located on NC 98 East Bypass in Wake Forest. Bishop’s Grant is one of five communities developed by Contentnea Creek Development Company and just opened for residential use this year.

About Contentnea Creek Development Company
In 1998 Contentnea Creek Development Company began designing neighborhoods that fit into the existing landscape without disturbing the integrity of their natural surroundings. This quickly became the company’s design stategy. As our founder Robert Hill, Sr. put it, “You have to look at land as a heritage you cherish, preserve and pass on. You don’t just change it, move on and not look back.” That philosophy is reflected by each of the five communities that today bear Contentnea Creek’s name. And that’s what makes the developments stand out. Contentnea Creek understands that a home is more than just a house. It’s an environment. For more information, visit www.contentneacreek.com.
