Construction In Progress For Mackenzie Place Ft. Collins

Lantz-Boggio Architects and MacKenzie House, both Denver-based firms, have once again teamed-up to design and build MacKenzie Place in Ft. Collins making this the fourth project on which the two firms have collaborated.

Denver, CO (1888PressRelease) April 28, 2007 - The project is located at 4750 Pleasant Oak Drive in Ft. Collins and is expected to cost $71 million. The 21 acre campus will total 230 dwelling units for seniors including 83 independent living cottages and a 200,000 sq ft main building containing 95 independent living apartments, 26 assisted living residences as well as a 26 unit memory care component.

The project will be an age-targeted (55+) campus with the cottages priced from $280,000 to the mid-$400s. There will be 5 different cottage floor plans to choose from with an option for a loft in the cottages providing a range of living space from 1300 sq ft to 1800 sq ft. A unique feature that MacKenzie House is offering in the project is fee-simple ownership of the cottages; something that is not normally offered in the Senior Housing industry.

The design of the buildings is of the Colorado Craftsman style utilizing “New Urbanism” principles. The entire community is connected by tree-lined boulevards and pathways that run throughout which de-emphasize automobiles and makes the entire project more pedestrian oriented. All the residences have front porches; a design feature intended to increase social activity among residents.

The extensive array of lifestyle amenities include: restaurants, a bistro and pub in the main building, a computer center, a full spa, movie theatre, a travel center specializing in seniors, and a “Prime Fit” fitness center with instructors certified to work with 55+ seniors. Also included is a highly anticipated Brain Fitness center by Posit Science, which utilizes a scientifically validated program of brain exercises that has shown to increase memory and recall by 10 years in the majority of cases.

Management of the completed facilities will be by Leisure Care

Brett Robinson, VP of Sales & Marketing at MacKenzie states,” MacKenzie House and Leisure Care are really excited to bring a truly unique living experience to Ft. Collins. Our concept is to merge the best in real-estate practices with the best in senior living environments into what we call ‘5-star Fun’. We feel that no one else is delivering this level of quality and service anywhere in the country and we are committed to enhancing people’s lifestyle.”

The construction team consists of Palace Construction for the Main building and Landmark Construction for the cottages. The initial phase of cottages is slated to be complete by June 2007 with the Main building opening in January of 2008.
