May 16, 2009 - To generate awareness and understanding of the concept of Service Management and the changes undertaking in the service industry so far, a conference was organized at MAIMT Yamunanagar. The conference attended by eminent personalities in Management spoke and clarified the views people maintain towards this study. The conference threw light on the importance of the service industry by discussing its role in various sectors and how it has been helpful in their growth. Dr Sanjiv Marwah, Dean, Faculty of Management, Maharishi Markandeshwar University , while delivering a keynote for the conference, defined the modern version of Service as “a change in the condition of one brought due to the change in the second”; by giving examples he explained the growth in the Agricultural Sector with took place due to the shift of the manpower into industries that support agricultural productivity.
It was also found out during the discussion that with the advent of Globalization, the Foreign Direct investment into this sector account for 50% alone, which is the total the Primary and the secondary sector together. Furthermore with the increasing privatization, there is scope for more investments and growth in this sector.
Such a meeting mentioned by Ravi Jadka is an eye opener for the people who lay importance on the manufacturing and not the way it is organized or maintained, which is a part of the service sector.
