  • Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) December 11, 2012 - Volume Seven of the Emmy Award winning series FUTURAMA™ will be available on Blu-ray and DVD December 11, 2012 packed with special bonus features, including a special feature on the show's composer Christopher Tyng. "Christopher Tyng's Big Score: A Jam Session with Futurama's Innovative Composer" features an in-depth conversation and jam-session with Tyng in his home studio in Santa Barbara. Tyng discusses his creative process behind the music for Futurama and treats the viewer to a live remix of the Futurama main title theme. Additionally, on December 11, 2012 the Futurama main title theme and remix will be available for the first time ever on iTunes. Tyng is currently scoring the USA Network series Suits, returning in January 2013 and has developed the Grow Music Project, a unique opportunity for 5 unsigned artists to win a trip to his state-of-the-art studio in Santa Barbara and have one of their original songs professionally mixed and produced, no strings attached.

Created by Matt Groening (The Simpsons), Futurama follows Phillip Fry as he travels to the farthest reaches of the universe with the help of his robot buddy, Bender and Cyclops love interest, Leela, when he is transported 1000 years into the future. Volume Seven is crammed with a whole new dimension of extras not shown on TV; this cosmic collection includes 13 bizarre and brilliant episodes involving ancient prophecies, Presidents' heads, robot gangsters, angry butterflies, and of course, sausage-making. It's a shipload of futuristic fun! Other special features on the DVD include Full-length Commentary on All 13 Episodes, Bonus Commentary on Episode 7.02, "A Farewell To Arms," by the Animators of Rough Draft Studios, Alternate Ending for Episode 7.05, "Zapp Dingbat," Futurama Karaoke: Sing Along with Your Favorite Characters, Möbius Trip: Infinite Futurama Screen Loops, and Too Good For TV: A Smorgasbord of Deleted Scenes.

Christopher Tyng is a songwriter, composer and producer who has worked with a wide variety of succesful artists, and has written music and songs for successful movies and television series in Hollywood over the past 20 years. As an integral member of the music team and often the sole contributor of the music scores on TV shows including "The OC", "FUTURAMA", "Rescue Me", "Covert Affairs," and "Suits," Tyng has helped define the sound and signature musical styles for these iconic and music-aware series. Through Tyng's experience writing, recording, and producing everything from large live orchestras to punk-rock, reggae, folk, neo-soul to electronica and everything in between, Tyng has honed a unique sensibility and a wide pallette of sonic techniques with which to help new artists create and refine their songs and musical identity.

In an effort to "pay it forward" to deserving artists on the rise, Christopher Tyng has created the Grow Music Project. Five selected applicants will win a free three-day session at Tyng's world-class Star Hill recording studio in Santa Barbara. He will work with the winners to develop, engineer, and professionally produce one of each band's original songs. The submission deadline for the first round of applications is February 1, 2013. Tyng will select winning bands with an emphasis on artists already making career progress. Bands will be responsible for their own travel to the studio, but food and lodging will be provided. Tyng will engineer and produce each winning band's selected song, while providing the environment and resources to allow for the "birthing process" of competitive professional singles. Additionally, Tyng is well versed in the criteria needed for the placement of songs in film and TV, which today is one of the best places for new bands to get noticed.
