March 16, 2008 - Longtime community radio show "Rhythm And Soul Radio" has made the quantum leap to become its own 24 hour internet radio station. Launched earlier this week, www.RhythmAndSoulRadio.com, is an urban eclectic internet radio station that plays music covering a wide range of styles from Black Rock to Hip-Hop and everything in between connected by the fact that it all springs from an urban experience.
The station is an outgrowth of the radio show that has aired on New York's WHCR 90.3FM, Harlem Community Radio, for the last 13+ years. The show and internet station's creator Marko Nobles says "it was time for this type of growth, as a matter of fact it was overdue. There's so much great music out there that we had to be able to do more than a weekly show. Now with the creation of RhythmAndSoulRadio.com we can play the range of music that we believe and have been told that people really want to hear and we can do it 24 hours a day."
In addition to being an extension of the original radio show it is based on RhythmAndSoulRadio.com will feature specialty shows by varied hosts that fit the style of the station. Two of those shows are the Indie Soul Brunch hosted by DJ Dan C.E. every Saturday and Sunday at 1pm featuring great soul music from independent and mainstream artists and Musical Pathways, which airs every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 2 - 5pm. The team of Lady Scorpio, Mama Soul, DJ BlackIcon1and the Mad Spinner DJ Jamelle-Mel make sure that the three hour journey is always memorable and feeds the soul.
Shows to be added include two from Nobles' longtime DJ and radio partner Supa DJ King James who will host two shows of his own. "The King's Party Mix", a two hour mix show that will air on Friday nights and then on Sundays he'll return with "Soul Sundays" a show featuring Soul and Funk Classics.
Another area of the site for visitors to enjoy is the Music and More Store which will feature music from many of the artists played on the station. The More section of the store is currently open and is one of the exclusive online retailers of the "I Love Harlem" apparel line created by Harlem company C&S Designs. Marko Nobles states "We're very proud to be able to seel products from the new "I Love Harlem" line within our Music and More Store on the site. I'm originally from Harlem, the show began on Harlem Community Radio and so it's perfect that we are able to offer people a chance to purchase items that proclaim a love for the world's most famous community." Some of the proceeds from sales of the "I Love Harlem" products will be donated to charities with programs that benefits children in Harlem.
