Colorado Springs, CO (1888PressRelease)
June 15, 2009 - The Association for Software Testing (AST) is revving up for it's fourth annual CAST conference - a conference filled with tutorials and educational sessions for software testers in all stages of their careers. CAST brings software testers from around the globe to share in discussions and tutorials designed to advance the knowledge and practices of software testing.
While previous year's conferences have taken place in Toronto, Ontario; Bellevue, Washington; and Indianapolis - this year's CAST conference is to be held in Colorado Springs, Colorado on July 13 through the 16, and will be housed at the elegant Antlers Hilton in downtown Colorado Springs.
The theme for this year's conference is "Serving Our Stakeholders", and will feature prominent keynote speakers such as Dr. Jonathan Koomey, Dr. Cem Kaner, James Bach, Jerry Weinberg and Michael Bolton. The conference will cover topics such as developing better software testing measurements, translating stakeholders' performance desires, and even how to further your self-education as a software tester.
Ben Simo, president of the Association for Software Testing says, "The primary goal of CAST is to bring testers together for conferring that leads to advancing the understanding and practice of software testing - both for each participant and the profession". Since 2006, the CAST conference has been leading the way in giving testers an outlet for active advancement in the field.
In addition to offering informative tutorials for those already in the software testing field, CAST 2009 will feature a tutorial of special interest to students and anyone else interested in entering the field. James Bach, a self-taught and well respected software tester, will be presenting 'Teach Yourself Software Testing", which focuses specifically on software testing self-education.
It is designed as a system of analyzing experiences and questioning conventional wisdom. Attendees will discover how to sort through differing schools of testing; the entry points for personal testing education; a syllabus of software testing concepts; how to identify, articulate, and test their own heuristics; as well as offer advice on how to assess their progress.
In order to facilitate a greater understanding of the realm of software testing, and to foster more interest in the industry, AST is offering students the opportunity to attend the conference for approximately half the regular non-member rate.
CAST 2009 is now open for registration. Software testers and students interested in participating can sign up at http://market.cast2009.org . Group discounts are also available for organisations interested in sending three or more employees to the conference.
