March 06, 2009 - Founded in 1972 by George Lamb, Blackburn Chemicals (BCL) initially manufactured a diverse range of paper processing chemicals. Today, with four of of George’s six children involved in the business, it has grown into an innovative and market leading £20 million operation based on a modern 10-acre site on the outskirts of Blackburn.
The firm has a focus on the Dispelair ® Foam Control agents and specialises in supplying defoamers for many industries as diverse as paper / pulp manufacture to food production. It is largely export driven, with 60% of its current turnover generated from overseas markets.
Having invested extensively in new facilities, including a new laboratory, the company is supporting continued growth by replacing its existing finance software with a more integrated and comprehensive business solution. This growth led the company to review a number of options as they embarked on a comprehensive selection process. As an existing Sage user, the company explored alternative Sage solutions from two different partners, as well as Microsoft solutions before selecting the SAP Business One from Codestone.
