March 05, 2009 - Illinois enacted new legislation in the last few years regarding all Dentist’s offices, Health clubs, and Outdoor playing fields. It is mandated that these places have an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and someone properly trained on site. There have been a countless number of instances where there are not properly trained individuals on site and emergency help has been too late. Code Red, LLC a Chicago based company is aware of these new legislations and is prepared to offer CPR/First Aid and AED training approved by the American Heart Association.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) affects nearly 1,000 Americans each day and usually away from a hospital. Illinois is trying to increase awareness by making stricter legislation on AED placement and individual training so that unnecessary deaths can be avoided. In July 2009, the state of Illinois requires that every outdoor playing field including football stadiums, soccer fields, baseball fields and other outdoor facilities have an AED on site (1). Also, recent legislation requires each dental office in the state that administers anesthesia or sedation to have at least one AED in the office at all times (2). Illinois also made it mandatory that Health Clubs have an AED and a properly trained individual on site (3).
