December 07, 2007 - Orem, UT – KLAS announces the publication of its Clinical Market Share Report. The purpose of this report is to understand what Clinical Information Systems (CIS) products providers are purchasing for their clinicians including nurses, doctors and allied healthcare professionals. KLAS’ goal is to assist the provider community in understanding what works for provider organizations with over 200 beds.
With ninety percent of acute care hospitals 200 beds and larger having already contracted with a CIS vendor for a nursing/physician solution, in this report KLAS investigates how satisfied provider organizations are with their original decision and how many are sticking with that decision.
The overall CIS market is experiencing a major adjustment based upon CIS Solutions delivering or not delivering what was contracted. As a result, proof that a CIS can and will be delivered as promised is a key topic of discussion at the executive level. Additionally, concerns about clinician adoption, integration and overall cost continue to be key decision elements for providers, along with the demand for clinical access 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with acceptable end-user response times.
Vendors included in the main body of the report are: Cerner, Eclipsys, Epic, GE, McKesson, Meditech, Misys, QuadraMed and Siemens. Early data was also collected for CliniComp, CPSI and M2.
Other recent KLAS studies have focused around interoperability, software quality, CPOE and nursing adoption. Never before have they been brought together in one report.
